A report of the closing convention
A good ten years after the symposium ‘Familienplanung und Lebensläufe von Frauen – Kontinuitäten und Wandel’ in Freiburg im Breisgau, the Bundeszentrale für gesundheitliche Aufklärung (BZgA) has turned its attention to the subject of migration. Questions about migrant women’s needs for information and advice on subjects such as family planning and contraception were the focus of the scientifi convention ‘women’s lives – family planning and migration’. It was held in Berlin on 26 and 27 October 2010. Th e occasion for the convention was the presentation of the results of the study ‘women’s lives – family planning and migration in women’s lives’, commissioned by the BZgA. 1,674 women between the ages of 20 and 44 and with a Turkish or eastern European migrant background were surveyed in Berlin, Stuttgart, Nuremberg and Oberhausen. Th e topics were their migration history, their reproductive biography and their current living situation.
